Dark Quiet Death 2D

Dark Quiet Death (2D) is a 2D top-down take on the original game A Dark Quiet Death which was created in response to the show Mythic Quest.

The main concept of the game is to place the player in a very minimal setting with very few actions to perform (walk, turn on and off a flashlight, read signs) in order to place more emphasis on the other factors involved in gameplay such as visuals and sound. The biggest feature for the game, however, is the procedural generation which allows for every single run-through of the game to be unique and non-overlapping (besides that of the basic gameplay concept which is never changed).

UI and player artwork was designed and drawn using the GameMaker 2 engine while other artwork such as the environment was pulled from free sources and reworked to fit the requirements and specifications of the game. All audio was pulled from free online sources as well as audio that I had previously saved from previous projects.

Predator

This game was designed as a final project for my Game Studio class. It was created in GameMaker 2 with the premise of monster evolution that is normally depicted in fantasy novels. In order to create a backstory for the game, the player is placed into a world where they wake up reborn as a “monster”, but still have human ethics. The game was supposed depict the character’s descent into insanity as they become more and more like a “monster” as they kill other monsters to evolve.

UI artwork was designed and drawn using the GameMaker 2 engine while other artwork such as the characters and environment were pulled from free sources and reworked to fit the requirements and specifications of the game. All audio was pulled from free online sources as well as audio that I had previously saved from previous projects.

Joust Clone

Designed in GameMaker 2 to be a clone of the 1982 Joust arcade game. All artwork was recreated and drawn using the GameMaker engine. Audio effects were pulled from online free sources or from previous games that I have worked on.

This was extremely fun to work on as I had always loved the official arcade version and had played it a lot after installing it onto a full-size arcade machine that I had built during my senior year of highschool.

Knight’s Trial

This game was created in Processing with the initial idea of creating a Juvenalian satire about the romanticism of knights and one’s own personal view of morality. The idea of the game was to allow the player to play the persona of a knight that was entrusted with the duty of slaying a “monster” that was located within a small dungeon that had been slaying countless knights that had previously been sent to slay it.

All the artwork was pulled from opengameart and were tweaked in order to conform to the game specifications and requirements. The audio was additionally pulled from opengameart.

Eat Eat Eat

Eat Eat Eat was a simple personal side project that I made while thinking about the food craze during the beginning of the Covid pandemic when multitudes of people were rushing to buy as many supplies as possible.

The game was designed in GameMaker 2 with character artwork based on the Among Us characters and other pixel-based video games. All artwork was redrawn using the GameMaker 2 engine. All audio was pulled from an audio base from previous projects.
